The research participants consisted of 76 university students enrolled in an English conversation course. Divided into 35 pairs, the students were engaged in two task types: five lesson units with role-play and five vlogging tasks. The results showed that both tasks significantly differed in their capacity to maximize each aspect of the speaking abilities assessed. Vlogging assignments appeared to boost clarity of the students’ language use the most compared to their interaction and content. Role-play, on the other hand, elicited their best performance in terms of content and interaction in social activities due to greater opportunities provided for producing and organizing turns with appropriate, meaningful expressions. Further studies should explore different ways to organize and implement each task to maximize its benefits for the development of EFL learners’ speaking skills.
Seong Hyeon Choi, Kemtong Sinwongsuwat Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal of Instruction and Smart Education https://topazart.info/e-journals/index.php/ijisme/article/view/55 Wed, 20 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Comparison of Learning Effectiveness Using Online and Offline Methods https://topazart.info/e-journals/index.php/ijisme/article/view/2023-11-24
The Covid-19 pandemic has put the world of education in a very difficult position. On the one hand, students are limited in their movements so as not to contract the virus, on the other hand, students must continue to learn so that there is no lost generation. As a solution, online learning methods are used. Along with the handling of the Covid-19 Pandemic which is considered successful, now the learning method is back using the offline method. However, there are institutions that continue to use online methods because they are considered more effective. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of online and offline learning methods. The research method used was a survey by taking place at SMP Al Ittihadiyah Ciampea Bogor and a sample of 104 people. Data analysis using difference and percentage tests. The results showed that the achievement of learning targets, understanding of the material, student attendance, and comfort in learning were significantly different between online and offline. As for the presence of teachers and parental encouragement, there is no real difference between online and offline. Thus, offline learning is very effective compared to online learning.
Muhammad Nail Award, Dedeh Dhohiah, Yeni Andriyani Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal of Instruction and Smart Education https://topazart.info/e-journals/index.php/ijisme/article/view/2023-11-24 Wed, 20 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0000 The Importance of Domestic Tourism Education in Tthe COVIC-19 Pandemic https://topazart.info/e-journals/index.php/ijisme/article/view/57
In 2020, the world faced a new challenge. The coronavirus, which in a few days turned into a pandemic, completely changed human consciousness and lifestyle. The pandemic also affected the tourism sector, which led to some changes. In the conditions of the pandemic, the borders in China were closed, as a result of which Chinese citizens were restricted from traveling abroad. The closure of the borders prompted the development of domestic tourism in China. Most popular became Tourism trips to the mountainous regions. The article examines the features of the growth of tourist flows on the example of Guilin as a result of restrictions during a pandemic. After the spread of the COVID-19, domestic tourism has become the most interesting and developing direction of tourism. I would like to point out that the development of domestic tourism is especially important for the development of peripheral regions, where lower-income people live compared to other large regions, whose living conditions are quite harsh, they have to solve quite severe problems at the beginning of each tourist season. This article clearly discusses the problem of low education, which hinders the development of domestic tourism in China and the growth of economic income of the population living in tourist areas.
Zouy Lie , Liang Boen Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal of Instruction and Smart Education https://topazart.info/e-journals/index.php/ijisme/article/view/57 Wed, 20 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Survey of Developing of Assistance Unit for Research Processing https://topazart.info/e-journals/index.php/ijisme/article/view/58
Higher education institutions play a vital role in cultivating skilled professionals through activities like research and publications. Lecturers and students are expected to engage in these endeavors, with lecturer performance often gauged by regular publications. However, the demanding nature of research and publication activities can strain some universities and cause them to need more support. This survey aims to gain the answer why students and lecturers need a research-assisted unit and the necessity for a Publication and Research Assistance Unit in higher education, anticipating that such a unit would enhance the quality and quantity of research and publications by providing essential support to lecturers and students. This study uses a qualitative research method to process data using NVivo with four steps: Gathering information, coding, running queries, and reporting. The results show why the assisted research unit is essential.
Widyasari, Endin Mujahidin, Novita Br Ginting, Fety Fatimah, Muhammad Wahyudin Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal of Instruction and Smart Education https://topazart.info/e-journals/index.php/ijisme/article/view/58 Wed, 20 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0000
